Masha (26) receives a proposal to marry but is afraid of the new stage in her life. Under the excuse of caring for her grandmother Eva (83), who has Alzheimer's disease, she flees to her hometown in Ukraine. Her boyfriend Mitja (28) follows her. When the town is occupied, they are trapped in Eva's house. Eva's memories of her beloved Kolya come flooding back. Their old love letters are read aloud by Masha and Mitja, the boundary between past and present disappears, and Eva begins to see Mitja as Kolya. Mitja devises a way to escape the area, but Eva insists on marrying Kolya. Masha grants Eva's wish, Mitja pretends to be Kolya, and the symbolic wedding allows both Masha and Eva to heal their wounds.
Myro Klochko (1990) was born in Ukraine and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Film Directing from FAMU in Prague in 2019. Her graduation film Plus One was screened at prestigious festivals such as the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, Tampere Film Festival, and the Rome Independent Film Festival, and won the Audience Award in the national competition at the WIZ-ART Lviv International Short Film Festival. Her feature-length script One Million Reasons to Dream was selected for the Less is More workshop in 2020. In her filmmaking, she is fascinated by the blending of documentary and fiction approaches and the use of elements of magical realism. She feels most connected to naïve art and absurd humor.
